DIET - Malappuram District

The National Policy on Education (NPE) 1986 and allied Pogramme of Action (POA) envisaged a third level (District level) institution to support academic functions especially in academic planning teacher empowerment programmes in the District which is more closer to the field than the National level institution like NCERT and NUEPA. State level institution like SCERT or SIEMAT based on the national perspective of DIETs, the context mission and roles detailed in chapter one. In Kerala DIETS were started their functioning in 1989 ( in three districts namely Kasargod, Wayanad and Thrissur)
DIET Malappuram is upgraded to this status on 1992 and after the establishment onwards DIET Malappram has established its position in the District.
